Happy Anniversary - Simon Says Stamp August 2013

Another card, this time for an anniversary! I'm going on vacation next week so I had to get some cards done to send out while I'm away. The papers I used were all from Simon Says Stamp August Card Kit. The L-O-V-E stamp is also from SSS, called: Just a Love Note. I only had white floss string, so I took one of my Copic markers and colored it the pink color. The little tickets were part of a whole patterned paper sheet that I cut out and adhered with foam dots. Then I punched out a heart and covered it with Glossy Accents.

Thanks for stopping by! Have a great day!!

Birthday Card - Simon Says Stamp July 2013 Card Kit

Trying to get caught up with my card making too. Here's one I made for my girlfriend. I used the supplies from Simon Says Stamp July Card Kit, the Happy Birthday stamp was also from that set.

Thanks for stopping by, sorry so short!

Summer - Washington DC Vacation & My Birthday Adventure

I'd say it's been awhile, but it's been a long while!! Summer came upon us quick, our daughters spent some time with their grandparents and then we all jumped a plane to visit with family in Washington DC. It was our first time there and so we visited all the sites and monuments. It was HOT, really HOT!! Not used to the humidity, think I was literally melting on the last day.

Our girls stay in WA DC for another week with their Auntie and Grandmother while the hubby and I came back to enjoy some alone time. But after being a vacation, it was time to get back to work too. We got to play a bit, hang out with friends and celebrate my birthday. I decided I wanted to do something different, so I chose...ZIP-LINING! It was so much fun, I highly recommend it.

It was truly a rush, it was hard work too! The sides of my rib cage was hurting for days! I forgot I had muscles there!!

Hard Water & Lemons (make a sparkle!)

So I'm on Pinterest everyday! I'm always looking for new craft ideas, home decor ideas, and way to clean things naturally. I'm not one of those people that make their own laundry detergent, I'm NOT that dedicated and frankly don't have the time. It's always bugged me that my master bath shower fixtures always have these nasty water stains. I've tried all type of products and nothing seems to make a difference. It's so strange because our downstairs bath, which the girls use, and gets used just as frequently doesn't seem to have this problem.

Look at this, isn't it nasty?

So I found this idea on Pinterest, at the Broccoli Cupcake blog! The idea is to use lemons, vinegar and baking soda.

I have to admit I pinned it and then today from memory went and tried it out. I completely forgot that I was suppose to use vinegar and baking soda, I just used straight lemons. Once I smeared lemon all over the fixtures, I scrubbed with my sponge and then rinsed off. Look at the results!

I'm impressed! I'll have to pay attention to how long this lasts. Next time I will add the vinegar and baking soda. Here's a photo without flash, look at my reflection!!

You're So Stinkin' Cute!

Last week I received some new stamps from Simon Says Stamp! Here's a card I put together from one of them, called Stinkin' Cute. I just love this little skunk, so darn cute!

  • I started off by stamping the skunk with black StazOn ink onto some SSS watercolor paper. I had a bit of trouble stamping on the paper - new stamp - I was so excited to get started I didn't test my stamp before stamping onto the water color paper. When will I learn? But I think I was able to save it.
  • I used my Inktense pencils to color this little guy, made up some ground/grass and also colored the hearts once I stamped them.
  • For the card - I used some scrap pink cardstock for the base, took some patterned paper from a My Mind's Eye paper pad (from Michaels) called Indie Chic-Saffron and adhered that to the base. Cut down my watercolor paper and rounded the edges, punched out a scalloped trim of black paper and adhered that to the base with foam dots. Added some black & white bakers twine and called it good!
Thanks for stopping by, enjoy your weekend!!

This Card is One Big Hug!

Here I am using the March 2013 Simon Says Stamp Card Kit for this card I made for my mother-in-law's birthday. While typing this blog I realized I better give some credit to the person who inspired me to make this card, I went looking and quickly was surprised and happy to find out it was  Kristina Werner, my favorite card designer, who is also on the Simon Says Stamp Team. She has designed may stamp for SSS and I just love her style. She's who inspired me to get back into stamping after so many years.

Not a very good photo at all!! It was the wrong time of day and I really needed to take a picture of this quick before I posted it in the mail. I put it through photoshop and thought I got most of the yellow out of the photo, but it still looks weird. I should have taken a photo of the inside as well, but I forgot. SORRY!! Not my best effort!

Thanks again for stopping by!

Happy Anniversary - Forever & Always

13 years my brother-in-law and his wife have been married. They are such wonderful, good people with three loving children. They have so much to be proud of! They are also fortunate enough to live in Hawaii, oh, I'm so jealous, so are my children for that matter. My girls are always saying how nice it would be to be able to go to the beach and play in the surf. But no, we are here in Seattle, where it's rainy and cold!

Wouldn't you like to be here?

Instead of here?

I made this card for Dan & Jerusha, they haven't gotten it yet and hopefully they don't follow my blog. I wanted to post this so I could get a couple of new posts up on my blog. I made this using supplies from the Simon Says Stamp October 2012 Card Kit. I used my copic markers to color the flower and leaves. I have a limited supply of copics, so this came out much more blue than I was going for. I wanted it to match better with the blue in the patterned paper. Oh well, it's the thought that counts, right!?

Happy Mother's Day

I've not been very good lately about posting on my blog, don't know what happened! Oh yeah, LIFE!! The weather here in the PNW has been all over the place. One day it's 75° beautiful blue skies and the next it's 55°, gray, rainy and miserable. My allergies have been up and down as well making me not feel all that good.

Mother's Day was a wonderful day (besides the weather)! My husband made a scrumptious brunch for my Mom and I. My girls had fantastic homemade cards and gifts for us both and we ended the day by watching my oldest daughter's soccer game—and they got a WIN for all the moms!! Yippee!!

Mmmm, doesn't that look good! French toast with cranberry sauce and crepes filled with ham and fried eggs! So good!! I'm so lucky that my husband knows how to cook; he had two special helpers too.

I made this card using Simon Says Stamp May 2013 Card Kit. I stamped the flowers on some vellum paper from the kit with Versamark and embossed with white embossing powder. I then took my copic markers to the back of the vellum and colored the flowers. All the patterned paper is from the kit as well as the lace at the bottom. The kit came with some chipboard hearts; I took my white stamp pad and covered them in white and then glossy accents to make them shiny. I also used the Petal Pink Liquid Pearls to make three drops on the card. Once I had put them on I tapped the card on my desk to get them to soften out on the top instead of being so pointy as it is when it squirts out of the bottle.

To all the Moms—Hope you had a fabulous Mother's Day!

Simon Says Stamp Febuary Card Kit

A friend of mine sent a nice Valentines card the other day and to thank her and send her a card in response, I put together this card using supplies from Simon Says Stamp February Card Kit. I knew I wanted to do something with the big flower stamp and the sentiment "hey, girlfriend" and just let all the rest fall into place. I added something to the inside of the card as well, scroll down to see the inside photo. Love it! Enjoy!!

My Mind's Eye at Michaels

Happy Saturday! My kids are away and I've been cleaning up my craft studio and realized I've acquired a few 6x6 patterned paper pads from MME.

Every time I go to Michaels I pick up one of these paper pads. I just love them! Lots of time they are on sale or I use a 40% coupon. Here' my collection so far -  minus one - I forgot I had purchased one and it didn't get into the photo.

I'm working on a card using supplies from Simon Says Stamp February Card Kit - stay tuned!

Happy Valentines Day, Everyone!!

I pumped out some cards for the hubby and two daughters last weekend. But I didn't want to post them for fear that my husband might decide to check out my blog.

I really took bits and pieces from many different card kits I've received from Simon Says Stamp for these three cards. I'm not going to be specific for each card on what supplies I used where, I'll just show them all at the end.

I've very happy with the way they came out. I received some Inktense Pencils for Christmas, I used them on the one card with the Furry Kisses stamp. I went to my washi tape collection to create the diagonal pattern on the Loads of Love card. The color combinations worked well for both cards for my "girly" girls! The I Love You Always card was a mish mash of supplies from various SSS card kits and the pattern papers are by My Minds Eye (The Station) exclusive to Michaels.
