Anniversary Card & Mini Card from Scraps

August is a busy month, full of birthdays and anniversaries. I saw a card that Kristina Werner designed over at Simon Says Stamp for the July Stamp Kit and I really liked it, so most of my inspiration came from her design. I ended up with a bunch of paper scraps in the end, so I made a mini card from that (at end of this post).

SUPPLIES: I started out with a My Mind's Eye  - Handsome Boy 6x6 paper pad I picked up at Michaels for the paper piecing. At least I think it's My Mind's Eye, however it says MME on front, it sure has the look and style of My Mind's Eye. I couldn't find it anywhere online so it must be exclusive to Michaels.

  • Bazzill Puree Dark  Cardstock 8.5x11 from SSS August Card Kit
  • Bazzill Candle Glow Cardstock 8.5x11 from SSS August Card Kit
  • Color Box- Ochre ink pad
  • Zing! White Embossing Powder
  • Dimensional Adhesive
  • Uniball Signo Broad White Gel Pen
  • We R Memory Keepers Corner Chompers
  • Random Ribbon from Michaels

Here's is my version of the card.

And with all the scraps left over I made this card. Sentiments are from Stampendous - Happy Messages. ENJOY!!

Simon Says Stamp September Card Kit - Card #1

Lazy second half of the day today, the girls and I have finished with all the back to school shopping. I'm now broke. Instead of dwelling about my empty wallet I pulled out my September Card Kit I got from Simon Says Stamp and decided to make a card.

I started out with a sketch (below), but of course things evolved on their own in the process of putting the card together.

And here's the final card.  I used some alphabet stamps I picked up from Michaels, Recollections - Sans-ible and I used Color Box Chalk - Blue Iris and Memento Tuxedo Black ink pads, all the rest came right from the card kit. Enjoy!

Simon Says Stamp August Card Kit - Card #1

Happy Friday everyone! Wanted to share the card I created using the August card kit from Simon Says Stamps. I needed an anniversary card and I thought the pattern papers were just perfect, for a happy little card.

I used Ranger Glossy Accents on the flowers, don't think you can really tell from the photo. I used some random ribbon from Michaels that I picked up in their sale bin. This was a quick and easy card, that came out perfect!

Masculine Birthday Card

I needed a masculine birthday card for a friend and remembered my girls bought me this great paper for my birthday. I got mine from Joann Fabrics, but I also put a link to a site online I found that carried it. The ray design is very popular right now and I thought that would work for the guy this card was for.

The cream colored ribbon used on the tag was just some random stuff I picked up from Michaels. And for the life of me I can't remember what ink I used for my stamp. I'm still working on building my stash so some of my supplies are old and no longer available, it's a work in progress.

I enjoyed making this card. The paper piecing went quick and looks very cool - enjoy!

Rosemary Lemon Chicken

Love to make this during the summer, so easy and so yummy. I found this recipe over at Elana's Pantry, she specializes is gluten free and Paleo diets and many other specialty diets. I made this last night for a dinner party and it turned out great, no left overs!!

With so many of my friends eating gluten free these days, this is a great resource and the recipes are good.

Gnocchi with Sage-Butter Sauce

Love, love, love this dish!

I'm trying harder everyday to find new, enjoyable, kid friendly foods for me and my family. My husband and I like food, but it's so nice to cook something for the entire family that we can all eat together. If I can get out of making mac n' cheese or fish sticks for the little ones I've done my job. I do have one highly picky eater, Ms. G, she's a bit harder to convince to try things, however little sister, Ms. J, loves to try new things!! Yea!

I found this recipe over at All Recipes and I absolutely love it! We're still working on Ms. G.

I only use one regular size package for 3 people and sometimes there's left overs. I reduce the butter to 3 Tablespoons and I happen to have fresh sage growing in my garden so I grab 5-6 nice size leaves, chop them up instead of the dried sage and  add in about 1/4 c. chopped up pecans. This makes it a rich dish, but it's so good! Enjoy!
